Aston Martin DB7 Zagato The Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Zagato was a limited-edition grand tourer made by Ford subsidiary Aston Martin. Introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October, 2002, the Zagato was immediately sold out. Only 99 examples were sold to the public, though one extra was produced for the Aston Martin museum.
Like the DB7 on which it is based, the Zagato is powered by a 6.0 L V12 engine and controlled via a 6-speed manual transmission. It has a top speed of 186 mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds, statistics not entirely dissimilar to Aston's present day DB9. This of course was not the only change that was made with the Zagato. The slim front grill was replaced with an open, wide 'mouth' style grill, that many[Who?] believe ruined the Aston's legendary good looks, while others believed it was a perfect change for a Zagato Aston Martin. Unlike the later DB AR1, the Zagato is built on a shortened chassis. The Vantage Zagato coupe sold for a base price of US$250,000. Aston Martin DB AR1 The Aston Martin DB AR1 was a limited-edition grand tourer made by Aston Martin for the United States market in 2003. The AR1 name stands for American Roadster 1. It was introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January of 2003 and had no convertible top at all. The DB AR1 used the powerful 6.0 litre, 48-valve, V12 engine from the V12 Vantage. Only 99 examples were produced for sale; AM built one additional example for their own factory collection. It had a top speed of 186 mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. The DB AR1 roadster sold for US$226,000. A silver DB AR1 was driven by Caleb Nichol during Season 2 of teen drama The OC. Ed Deline, (James Caan) drives a silver AR1 in the TV show Las Vegas (1st and 2nd season, 3rd and 4th he has green DB9 Volante). |
